Colorguard
The Archbishop Riordan colorguard program began in the fall of 2008 by alumnus, Mark Lieuw (Class of 07). The program is a collaboration between Riordan, Mercy SF, and ICA High Schools. This upcoming school year (2011-2012) will be the colorguard's fourth year. The colorguard has been a great asset and addition to the band! In previous years, Riordan has only had one colorguard in (2004-2005) consisting of a nine-member all-male flagline in the back of the band.
In 2009, the colorguard purchased new uniforms modeled after the band's military uniform. The colorguard's colors of purple, gold, and white offer a contrast with the purple and black of the band. During the colorguard's brief history, they have grown from five members to fourteen members and has placed and won awards at many band competitions and local parades throughout the Bay Area.
Last year the colorguard placed first at the Fairfield Tournament of Champions along with the band who also took first place in their division.
